219 Park St
This is our first multi-residential project in Melbourne and our collaboration Carpe Group has been incredibly rewarding. We believe the success of this partnership comes from a shared appreciation of detail, design quality, and creating something that stands apart.
When designing 219 Park Street, we were focused on creating a space that felt harmonious, timeless, and full of character. With architecture by Warren & Mahoney, the project is part of a lively mixed neighbourhood and the brief embeds that kind of liveliness into the interiors.
Our work has a signature of colour, but that’s mostly enhanced with the furnishings and beautiful objects that we layer into the space. Here we were conscious of creating a universal foundation that could appeal to a wide range of people. A backdrop for life, a space where residents could build their own personal expression through artwork, furniture, and soft furnishings.
Transitioning from single homes to multi-residential projects is a step that we received with confidence: when designing a larger project, our strength is the depth of experience we have gained from working with so many different clients over almost two decades. By recognising the common threads in how people seek comfort, functionality, beauty, and connection within their homes, we can create spaces that feel intuitive, adaptable, and genuinely considered for a wide range of residents. These observations give us a strong foundation when approaching a project where we have not yet met the end user.
Design Insights:
One of the greatest successes of the design is the way the colour palette works together. Although the tones are calm and refined, there is nothing flat or predictable about the spaces. Every element has a relationship with the next, creating a layered and cohesive experience throughout the apartments. The beautiful island stone is a key inspiration, with its warm grey tones and subtle blush undertones. We carried these colours through into the bathrooms, where the same warm tone is reflected in the tiling and complemented by soft off-white finishes. Together, these materials create a palette that feels natural, welcoming, and effortlessly connected.
Another favourite standout detail are the bespoke solid brass and bronze handles. We are proud to be including the Cove handle, which we designed in collaboration with Henry Wilson over a decade ago. These pieces act almost like jewellery within the home, adding a tactile and luxurious quality to the joinery in the kitchens and wardrobes. Their handcrafted appearance and durable finish create a connection between functionality and beauty, making everyday interactions with the space feel special.

We are excited to continue working with Carpe on a new project, currently under development in Hawthorn. It’s encouraging to see a growing number of developments in recent years that place genuine value on thoughtful architecture and considered interior design, looking beyond commercial returns to create spaces with character, integrity and a point of difference.
